香川真司のドルトムント復帰は当然の選択だが、プレミアリーグで成功する日本人選手を早く見たい

残念だったのはイングランドのプレミアリーグでなかなか日本人が成功出来ない事だ。これまで、稲本潤一や中田英寿をはじめ、多くの日本人選手が挑戦したものの、吉田麻也がサウサンプトンのDFとしてそれなりに定着している以外に、日本人選手がプレミアで成功した例はない。

去就が注目されていた香川真司のドルトムント移籍が正式に決まった。以前から「噂」あるいは「期待」のレベルではくすぶっていた移籍話だが、可能性が現実化したのはこの数日の事。ドイツ・メディアに「移籍か?」との報道が出始めてから数日、ウィンドーが閉まる直前に移籍は現実化した。僕は報道されている以上の移籍についての詳しい内容は知らないが、メディアの伝える所によればドルトムント側も歓迎一色。香川も「マンチェスター・ユナイテッドを離れるときは移籍先はドルトムントしかない」と語るなど、まさに相思相愛の移籍となるようだ。ドルトムント移籍によって、香川はチャンピオンズリーグにも出場できる訳だし、何より出場機会を得られる。

ファン・ハール監督を迎えたマンチェスター・ユナイテッドは開幕から大きく出遅れ、チームとしても全く機能していない。中盤からどうやってボールを前に運んでいくかという基本的な所が出来てないのだ。そんな中でもほとんどチャンスを与えられないのであれば、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのブランドにいつまでもぶら下がっていても仕方がない。「移籍」は当然の決断だった。残念ながら日本代表がワールドカップでの戦いをたった3試合で終えてしまった為、思ったより早く代表チームへの拘束が解かれた事は、新シーズンの開幕に当っては日本選手に有利に働いている様で、各国リーグで日本人選手のゴールに絡む活躍の場面が見られている。ドルトムントもこの2年間でメンバーは変わってはいるものの、何しろクラブやスタッフの事はよく知っているはずだけに、適応に時間はかかるまい。香川には新天地というより古巣のドルトムントでしっかりと活躍してもらいたいものだ。

ただ、残念だったのはイングランドのプレミアリーグでなかなか日本人が成功出来ない事だ。これまで、稲本潤一や中田英寿をはじめ、多くの日本人選手が挑戦したものの、吉田麻也がサウサンプトンのDFとしてそれなりに定着している以外に、日本人選手がプレミアで成功した例はない。ブンデスリーガでは、あれほど多くの選手が活躍出来ているのに。ブンデスリーガでは、日本人選手をどのように獲得して、どのように使いこなすかというビジネスモデルが確立されている。日本人選手の特性は、「そこそこのスキルや器用さがあって、戦術には忠実で監督の言うことを素直に受け入れる。アジリティーのレベルは高く、持久力もある。ただ、瞬発系のパワーには欠け、良い意味でのエゴイズムもない」といった所だろう。

そういう日本人選手を非常に組織的なドイツのチームはうまく活かす事が出来る。日本人の欠点であるパワー系は周囲の屈強な選手がうまくカバーし、組織として日本人の器用さを活かせばいいのだ。ところが、ヨーロッパの多くの国ではサッカー観が違う様だ。組織としてプレーするより、所詮は「個」なのだ。1対1になったらFWは個の力で仕掛けて相手を破る。DFは1対1で相手を必ず止める。それが前提となった上で、初めて組織が成立するのだ。フィジカルに弱い選手は、自らのアイディアと技術でカバーすればいいのであって(スコットランドで中村俊輔がやっていたように)、チームとして他の選手の弱点をカバーするという発想はない。

要するに「その持ち場は君に任せる」というのが、彼らのサッカー観だ。イングランドではフィジカルやメンタルの強さが称賛されるし、スペインではテクニックの力。そして、イタリアでは駆け引きといった様に注目するポイントは違っても、やはり「個」が大事になる。ドルトムントでは組織の中でテクニックを活かして大成功を収めた香川も、「さあ、ご自分でなんとか切り開いていって下さい」というイングランドのプレミアリーグでは結局、その持っているものを発揮出来なかった。

そもそも、サー・アレックス・ファーガソンが香川を獲得した時には、そういうプレミアのサッカー観を少しでも変える事でヨーロッパでの戦いで勝利出来る様にしたいという思いがあったのかもしれないが、それもファーガソンが香川移籍から1シーズンで退任してしまった為に、はっきりとは分からない。さて、こうしてブンデスリーガで成功する選手が増えたのは嬉しい事、有り難い事なのではあるが、多くの「器用な」テクニック系の選手がドイツで成功を収める事で、日本のサッカー界に蔓延している「テクニック信仰」の様なものが、いっそう強化されていくのは問題かもしれない。

サッカーというゲームをするには、テクニック系の選手も必要だし、「日本的なサッカー」はいつの時代もテクニックがメインになるのだろうが、ただ、どんなチームにも「個」で打開できる選手は必要だ。ドリブルで仕掛ける選手。パスを収めてキープ出来る選手。あるいは、1対1では必ず(反則をしてでも)止めるDF。そういうタイプの選手も絶対に必要なのだ。そして、そういうタイプはヨーロッパにはいくらでもいるので、ヨーロッパのクラブからはなかなか声はかからない。しかも、ヨーロッパ側にも「日本人選手は......」という固定観念の様なものがあるのだろう。そうすると、せっかく「個」の強い選手がいても、脚光を浴びることなく、そういう選手が日本では育ちにくくなってしまう。

メディアはJリーグでプレーしているその種の選手のプレーをしっかり評価する事が必要だろう。また、代表でもこれまではテクニック系がもてはやされてきたが、アギーレ新監督には、そういう強さのある選手を発掘して欲しい。そして、そういう「個」の強さを持った選手がイングランドやスペインやイタリアで活躍する日を期待したい。もちろん、ブンデスリーガで活躍する選手が増えるのもいい事なのだが、ドイツだけでなく、他国でも日本人が活躍するようになってこそ、日本のサッカーは本物となる事が出来るという話である。
