This is a pokemon Shinkansen 200 series train, but Pikachu is hard to see from this angle.\n\n200 series train has a snow plow at its nose. Forty years ago, Tokaido Shinkansen was stopped often by snow. So, when Tohoku/Joetsu Shinkansen started its service, how to cope with snow was a key issue. The snow plow is a small part of the countermeasures. (credit:ykanazawa1999/Flickr)

Shinkansen railroad runs in a trench around Den\'en-chofu. There are some overpasses across the railroad, and they make nice point to take Shinkansen pictures.\n\nThis picture was taken from the southernmost overpass. It is near the Shinkansen bridge over the Tama River. If I moved several meters, there was a better place to avoid obstacles, but the place was already occupied by another person. Perhaps this place is well-known to the people who like railroad photograph. (credit:ykanazawa1999/Flickr)
