イギリス南部で8月22日に開かれていたショアハム航空ショーで、曲芸飛行中の戦闘機が近くの幹線道路に墜落した。BBCによると、走行していた複数の車が巻き込まれ、11人が死亡した。
現場でアマチュア・カメラマンのDan Tube氏が撮影した映像によると、戦闘機はループ飛行を披露するため、急上昇したのち回転して降下したが、機体が上昇せず、そのまま道路に墜落した。墜落現場からは大きな火の玉が上がり、黒煙が立ちこめた。道路は通行止めとなった。
朝日新聞デジタルによるとパイロットは救出され、病院に運ばれたが重体という。航空ショーは英国空軍協会などの協賛で23日も行われる予定だったが、事故を受けて中止された。
