オバマケア（医療保険改革法）が混迷を極める中、オバマ大統領が緊急の記者会見を行い、運用の修正を行うことを表明しました。
オバマ大統領は11月14日に会見し、オバマケアの基準を満たさないと現行の保険契約を解約しなければならないケースが相次いでいる問題に対して、基準を満たさなくても現行の保険契約を1年間継続できるようにしたと表明しました。
もともとオバマ大統領は、オバマケアが施行されても現行の保険契約は継続できると説明していました。しかし結果的に虚偽の説明をしていたことになり、オバマ大統領への支持率も過去最低の39％まで落ち込んでしまいました。
また、10月1日から実施された、いろいろな健康保険のプランを見比べて買うことができるウェブショップ「医療保険取引所」への加入者数がわずか10万人だったことについて、オバマ大統領は「私のせいだ」と述べ、「この医療保険法のロールアウト（アメフトのクォーターバックがパスするタイミングを図ること）でファンブル(ボールをこぼす)してしまった」と、出足でつまずいたことを認めました。
