10月1日の運用開始からトラブル続きのオンライン保険加入サイト「HealthCare.gov」。オバマケア（医療保険改革法）、そしてオバマ大統領への支持を急落させたシステムのトラブルによって、政権運営の致命傷となりかねないダメージを負っています。
オバマケア（医療保険改革法）の一環として10月1日にオープンした保険への加入を行うウェブサイト「HealthCare.gov」は、運営初日から立て続けにクラッシュしたりログインできなかったりとトラブル続きですが、今後はHealthCare.govを通さず、直接民間の保険会社やネット証券会社に申し込みができるようになります。
オバマ政権はトラブル続きのHealthCare.govを通さないで容易にサインアップできる方法を模索しています。用紙や電話での申し込みもできるように資金援助も行う方針です。
11月19日、ホワイトハウスのジェイ・カーニー報道官は、保険加入者が保険会社と直接やりとりする際の方法として、オンライン以外の加入も認める方針だと述べました。
