ヨーロッパでまた列車事故。スイスの首都ベルンから南西に50キロほどのところにあるGranges-pres-Marnand駅の近くでローカル線同士が正面衝突し、運転士が死亡した。そのほか、少なくとも35人がけがをし、そのうち5人が重体となっている。
イギリスBBCによると事故が起きたのは29日午後7時（日本時間30日午前2時）ごろ。事故が起きた列車の一方の運転士は車両内に閉じ込められたままになっていたが、死亡が確認された。もう一方の運転士はけがをしているものの無事だという。事故原因はまだわかっていない。地元警察は「被害状況はさらにひどくなる可能性がある」と話している。
スイスの列車システムは世界で最も安全なものの一つと言われているが、スペインで先日発生した高速列車の脱線事故に続く事故の記憶に新しく、現地では不安が広がっている。
