武器を持たない15歳黒人少年を射殺した警官、殺人罪で起訴

テキサス州バウチ・スプリングスで武器を持たない15歳の黒人少年ジョーダン・エドワーズさんを射殺した元警官ロイ・オリバー容疑者(37)が、殺人罪で起訴された。

ダラスのテレビ局WFAA-TVによると、裁判所が5月5日午後、オリバー容疑者に逮捕状を出した。ダラス・モーニング・ニュースによると、オリバー容疑者はまだ出頭していないという。

バウチ・スプリング警察署は、4月29日の事件翌日、オリバー容疑者を解雇した。オリバー容疑者は29日夜、パーティーから帰る途中の十代の若者たちが乗った車に自分のライフル銃を使って発砲した。車に乗っていたたメスキート高校1年生のエドワーズさんは、頭に銃弾を受けて死亡した。

2017年5月5日、ロイ・オリバーに殺人容疑で逮捕状が発行された。この逮捕状は、オリバーが意図的に重大な身体的傷害を引き起こし、明らかに人命の安全を脅かす行動で、1人の死を招いたことを示す証拠にもとづき発行された。この令状は全ての保安官にロイ・オリバーを殺人罪で逮捕する権限を与える。オリバーは、いずれかの保安官の元に出頭することも選択できる。ジョーダン・エドワーズさんの死亡状況について捜査が引き続き行われ、ロイ・オリバーの逮捕で捜査が終了することはない。
