セルビアの首都・ベオグラードで10月14日に行われたサッカーの欧州選手権予選、セルビア対アルバニア戦が、選手や観客による乱闘のため前半41分で中断され、没収試合となった。朝日新聞デジタルなどが伝えた。
ロイター通信などによると、0－0で迎えた前半終了間際、セルビアの隣国のコソボなど、アルバニア系住民が多く住む地域をアルバニアの領土であるかのように主張する旗が、無線操縦の無人機につり下げられてピッチに飛んできた。旗をつかんだセルビアの選手とアルバニアの選手が小競り合いになった。セルビアの観客もピッチに入って選手に暴力をふるい、スタジアムは混乱。約30分後、マーティン・アトキンソン主審が試合の中止を決めた。試合の扱いは、欧州サッカー連盟（UEFA）が今後裁定する。

アルバニア国外にも多く居住するアルバニア系住民は、マケドニアの人口の約4分の1、コソボでは人口の9割以上を占める。バルカンのアルバニア人居住地域統一を目指す「大アルバニア主義」に対して、セルビアなど周辺国は強い警戒心を抱いている。
セルビアのイバノビッチ主将（チェルシー）は「我々は試合を続けたかったが、アルバニアの選手が心の準備ができていないと話した」と語った。
セルビアのメディアは、アルバニアのエディ・ラマ首相の兄弟が、旗の飛来に関与した疑いでVIP席で逮捕されたと報じたという。
