ローマ法王「素晴らしい、素晴らしい」 2015年の訪日へ意欲

ローマ法王フランシスコが、2015年の訪日へ強い意欲を示していることがわかった。

ローマ法王フランシスコが、2015年の訪日へ強い意欲を示していることがわかった。韓国訪問を終えた法王フランシスコは8月18日、記者団と会見。日本政府が訪日を招請していることについて、「行けるなら素晴らしいことだ」と2度繰り返し、実現を希望したという。MSN産経ニュースなどが報じた。

来年は、潜伏中のキリシタンが長崎で発見（信徒発見）されてから１５０年の節目の年で、記念行事が行われる。日本政府は法王の来日を招請し、日程などはまだ調整中だが、法王は「素晴らしい、素晴らしい」と笑顔で繰り返し、実現を強く希望した。

法王フランシスコは、日本にキリスト教を伝えたザビエルと同じイエズス会に属しており、厳しい弾圧に耐え抜いた隠れキリシタンに強い関心を持つという。1月15日の一般謁見でも江戸時代に信仰を守った長崎の信徒を「模範」とたたえており、長崎市からの訪日を求める親書に対しても、前向きな返書を返している。

また、2015年は、江戸時代に仙台藩主伊達政宗の命を受けた「慶長遣欧使節団」が当時のローマ法王、パウロ5世と謁見してから400年を迎える年でもある。2014年6月には安倍首相がバチカンを訪れ、法王フランシスコに「こうした節目に来ていただきたい」と2015年の訪日を招請。プレゼントには江戸時代の「隠れキリシタン」たちが使ったという、光に当てるとキリストの影が浮かび上がる「魔鏡」の複製を贈った。

なお、日本カトリック司教協議会も「東日本大震災の被災地を訪れ、人々とともに祈ってほしい」「原発廃止の運動を進める日本カトリック司教協会の働きを祝福し、世界に伝えてほしい」などとする親書を送っている。
