父親のポール・スタウト氏は、最近受け取ったメールで、ソレラちゃんが1962年式の英国車「オースチン・ヒーリー・スプライト」のオークションに入札し、落札したことを知ったという。
幸いにも、車の価格は225ドルだった。
父親のスタウト氏は、テレビ局「KOIN 6 News」の取材に対して、「娘が購入したのが、私が目を付けていた3万8000ドルのポルシェでなくて本当に良かった」と話している。
売り手は、ほかの入札者に連絡することを提案してきたが、スタウト氏は車を購入することを決意。修理して、ソレラちゃんが大きくなった時の誕生日プレゼントにしようと考えているという。
IT時代に育つ子どもを持つ親にとって、携帯電話やデバイスのパスワード保護は重要になってきている。子どもがiPadの無料ゲームで遊び、高額の請求が届いたというケースは多数発生しており、アプリ内の購入機能は苦情の対象となっている。
今年初頭には、5歳のダニー・キッチン君が『Zombies vs. Ninja』のゲーム内でアップグレードを購入し、両親がApple社から2550ドルの請求書を受け取ったというニュースもあった。
