チュニジアの首都チュニスのバルドー博物館で18日、銃を持った武装集団が外国人観光客らを襲撃し、同国のハビーブ・シド首相によると、日本人を含む外国人17人とチュニジア人2人が死亡した。

[チュニス/東京 19日 ロイター] - チュニジアの首都チュニスのバルドー博物館で18日、銃を持った武装集団が外国人観光客らを襲撃し、同国のハビーブ・シド首相によると、日本人を含む外国人17人とチュニジア人2人が死亡した。

シド首相は死者の国籍について、日本人が5人含まれると発表。日本人の死者数について、菅義偉官房長官は19日午前の記者会見で「(5人は)誤認だった」とし、邦人の死者は3人だったと述べた。

また、安倍晋三首相は「テロは断じて許されない。強く非難する」と強調。「今後、国際社会と連携を深めながら、テロとの戦いに全力を尽くしていく考えだ」と語った。

菅長官によると、政府は事件を受け、在チュニジア大使を長とする現地対策本部を設置した。

シド首相の話では、死者の中には日本人のほか、イタリア人4人、フランス人1人、ポーランド人1人、コロンビア人2人、オーストラリア人1人、スペイン人2人が含まれている。同博物館はチュニス中心部にあり、議会にも隣接している。

現場にいた観光バスの運転手は記者らに「彼ら(武装集団)は、観光客らがバスから降りると、いきなり観光客に向かって発砲を始めた」と証言した。

当局者によると、多数の観光客が博物館に逃げ込んだが、武装集団は観光客を人質に取って館内に立てこもった。その約2時間後、治安部隊が突入し、集団の2人を殺害、人質を救出した。武装集団の所属組織などは分かっていない。

テレビ映像では、治安部隊に保護されながら数十人が走って避難する様子が確認できる。中には高齢の外国人や、子どもを抱えて逃げる男性もいた。

ケリー米国務長官は、事件を強く非難する声明を発表し、安全で民主的な国づくりを目指すチュニジア政府への支援を継続する意向を表明した。

チュニジアでは2011年に政変が起き、リビアやエジプト、シリア、イエメンなどに波及した「アラブの春」の発端となった。チュニジアでは政変後、新憲法の施行や議会選が行われ、混乱の続く他国と異なり民主化のモデルとなっていた。

チュニジアの治安部隊は、米政府がテロ組織に指定するイスラム過激派組織「アンサル・シャリア」などと衝突したことはあったが、過激派の攻撃はアルジェリアとの国境近くなどに限られていた。
