事故は13日午後、地下約2キロの地点で発生した。電気系統のトラブルにより爆発したとみられる。労働社会保障省は声明を発表し、事業主は過去2年間に4回検査を受け、2カ月前の検査では安全管理上問題はなかったと述べた。しかし、安全対策が不十分と指摘する作業員の声もある。
