野球の国・地域別対抗戦、第4回ワールド・ベースボール・クラシック（WBC）は3月22日、決勝がアメリカ・ロサンゼルスのドジャースタジアムであり、アメリカがプエルトリコを8-0で破って初優勝を果たした。
プエルトリコは2大会連続で準優勝、日本は2大会連続で決勝進出を逃した。
アメリカが決勝に進んだのは、今大会が初めて。
アメリカは3回のキンスラーの2ランホームランで先制、4点リードで迎えた7回2アウト満塁、クロフォードのタイムリーなどでさらにダメ押しの3点を追加した。大量得点でプエルトリコを突き放し貫禄勝ちを見せた。
