テニスのウィンブルドン選手権は6日、ロンドン郊外のオールイングランド・クラブで第12日を迎え、女子シングルス決勝で、第15シードのマリオン・バルトリ(フランス)が第23シードのザビーネ・リシキ(ドイツ)を6―1、6―4で破り、4大大会で初優勝を飾った。バルトリは4大大会通算47回目の出場で、女子で史上最も遅い初優勝となった。朝日新聞デジタルが伝えた。
共同通信によると、バルトリは第1セットの第2ゲームから6ゲームを連取して勢いに乗り、第2セットも二つのゲームをブレークして押し切った。
バルトリは試合後の談話で「長い間、この瞬間を夢見てきた。6歳の時から夢だった優勝トロフィーを手にして、最高に幸せ。(長年コーチ役だった)父にまず感謝したい」と語った。
一方、4回戦で第1シードのセレーナ・ウィリアムズを、準決勝で第4シードのアグニエシュカ・ラドワンスカを破るなど旋風を巻き起こしたリシキは、「さまざまな状況に対応できず気押されてしまった。これまで多くの浮き沈みがあり、それを乗り越えてきた。四大大会を制覇するチャンスをまたつかみたい」と涙ながらに語った。
父の手ほどきで6歳の時にテニスを始め、00年にプロ転向。06年ASBクラシックでツアー初優勝。四大大会は07年ウィンブルドン準優勝が過去最高だった。ツアー通算8勝目。フォア、バックハンドとも両手打ちの力強いストロークが武器。170センチ、63キロ。28歳。フランスのルピュイアンブレ出身。（時事ドットコムより）
