国際オリンピック委員会（IOC）は7月31日、マレーシアのクアラルンプールで総会を開始、アルマトイ（カザフスタン）と北京が争う2022年冬季オリンピック・パラリンピックの開催都市を決める。時事ドットコムなどが伝えた。
立候補しているアルマトイ（カザフスタン）、北京の招致演説に続いて、ＩＯＣ委員による投票を午後４時１５分（日本時間同５時１５分）から実施。開催都市は同５時３０分（同午後６時３０分）開始のセレモニーで発表される。
北京が選ばれれば０８年の夏季に続き、史上初の夏冬両五輪開催。アルマトイなら中央アジアで初の五輪開催となる。どちらが選ばれても、１８年冬季の平昌（韓国）、２０年夏季の東京に続いて３大会連続でアジア開催となる。
