日本スケート連盟は12月30日、腹痛で精密検査を受けていたフィギュアスケート男子の羽生結弦（ANA）が「尿膜管遺残症」と診断され、手術を受けたと発表した。時事ドットコムなどが報じた。
約2週間の入院と1カ月の安静が必要で、練習は経過を見て再開する見込み。羽生は3月の世界選手権（上海）代表に選ばれており、影響が懸念される。
羽生には今月上旬のグランプリ（GP）ファイナル中から断続的な腹痛があり、3連覇した27日の全日本選手権後に精密検査を受けた。

毎日新聞などによると、尿膜管は、胎児の時にへその緒と膀胱をつないでいる管。生後、出生後に退化して自然になくなるのが一般的だが、完全に退化せず残る人もおり、その状態を尿膜管遺残症という。炎症や腹痛などの症状があるが、症状が出ない場合もある。処置としては、手術で尿膜管を摘出することが多いという。
羽生は11月上旬の中国杯で他の選手と激突し、頭部や腹部、太ももなどを負傷した。
