第18共徳丸の保存断念 気仙沼の市民アンケートで「保存の必要ない」7割

津波で宮城県気仙沼市の市街地に打ち上げられた大型漁船「第18共徳丸」の保存を、同市が断念したことが分かった。7月に市内の全世帯を対象として船を残すことへの賛否を尋ねるアンケートを実施したが「保存の必要はない」とする回答が約7割に上ったためだ。

津波で宮城県気仙沼市の市街地に打ち上げられた大型漁船「第18共徳丸」の保存を、同市が断念したことが分かった。7月に市内の全世帯を対象として船を残すことへの賛否を尋ねるアンケートを実施したが「保存の必要はない」とする回答が約7割に上ったためだ。

第18共徳丸は全長60メートル、総トン数は330トンもある大型巻き網漁船だ。東日本大震災の津波によって、港から750メートルも離れた市街地まで運ばれた。周囲のガレキや漁船が取り除かれて更地になった今も、大きすぎて移動できなかった第18共徳丸だけが残っている。気仙沼市では、震災の記憶を伝えるモニュメントとして保存したい意向だが、住民からは「震災を思い出す」などと反対の声も強かった。

47Newsによると、第18共徳丸を所有する水産会社「儀助漁業」は「保存に反対する地元住民が多い」などとして既に市に解体の意向を伝えた。市は7月に同社に翻意を促そうと、市内の全世帯に船の保存の賛否を問うアンケートを実施。「保存の必要はない」との回答が68.3%を占めた。菅原茂市長は「船主の意向に沿った解体への協力を進める」と話しているという。

MSN産経ニュースによると、このアンケートには約1万4千通の回答が寄せられ「保存が望ましい」は16.2%、「船体の一部や代替物で保存」は15.5%に過ぎず、保存を望む声は少数派だったという。
