米のアフガン国境空爆で人質2人死亡 米・伊の民間人巻き添えに

オバマ米大統領は23日に記者会見し、1月にアフガニスタンとパキスタンの国境付近で、米軍が国際テロ組織アルカイダの拠点を狙った空爆により、アメリカ人とイタリア人の人質2人が巻き添えとなって死亡したと発表した。

米のアフガン国境空爆で人質2人死亡 米・伊の民間人

オバマ米大統領は23日に記者会見し、1月にアフガニスタンとパキスタンの国境付近で、米軍が国際テロ組織アルカイダの拠点を狙った空爆により、アメリカ人とイタリア人の人質2人が巻き添えとなって死亡したと発表した。「心の底から哀悼の意を示し、米政府を代表してご家族に対して深くおわびする」と謝罪した。

死亡したのは、2011年にアルカイダに拉致された米国人のウェインステインさんと、12年に拉致されたイタリア人の援助作業員ロポルトさん。オバマ氏は、空爆は対テロ作戦の指針に基づいたものだったと強調したうえで、民間人がいることは事前に分からなかったと説明した。米メディアによると空爆は無人機によるものとされる。無人機の攻撃では、これまでも民間人が巻き込まれるケースが後を絶たない。

オバマ氏はこのほか、この空爆で米国人のアルカイダ指導者、別の空爆で同じく米国人のアルカイダ幹部の計2人を殺害したことも明かした。(ワシントン=佐藤武嗣)
