5月11日に兵庫県赤穂市で発生した大規模な山火事が、バーベキューの炭火の不始末が原因だったようだ。同市内に住む会社員の男が森林法の失火の疑いで12日に逮捕されたと、朝日新聞デジタルなどが報じている。
県警赤穂署は同日、バーベキューで使った木炭を自宅裏の山林に捨てて燃え移らせたとして、赤穂市木津の会社員河原大剛容疑者（４０）を森林法（失火）違反の疑いで逮捕し、発表した。署によると、河原容疑者は１１日正午ごろから自宅の裏庭で家族ら６人でバーベキューをしており、「消えたと思いこんで水をかけず、木炭を山に捨てた」と容疑を認めているという。

この山火事で山林約70ヘクタールが1日近く燃え続けたが、12日午後1時に鎮火された。消火活動には消防車延べ60台、消防隊員や消防団員ら700人余りが出動。けが人はいなかったが、火は一時、住宅地から数十メートルまで迫っていたという。
火は一時、山すその集落から数十メートルのところにまで迫り、最大で８０人以上が近くの公民館などに自主的に避難しました。
