放射能汚染を可視化すると、物を言わないはずの植物や魚が静かに語りかけてくる(画像)

音もなく、臭いもなく、目にも見えない放射能汚染を「オートラジオグラフィ―」という手法で可視化した画像を記録した写真集「放射線像」が発売された。

本書は、東京電力福島第一原発事故で汚染されたサンプルを対象にした「放射線像」を記録したもので、黒く映し出された部分は放射能汚染を受けた箇所だ。より黒い部分は、より強く汚染されていることを意味する。日常では垣間見えない、透明な沈黙の世界に存在する放射線の姿が浮かび上がってくる。

本書の編集を担当した皓星社の晴山生菜さんは、出版に至った経緯を次のように述べた。

「都内のあるギャラリーではじめて放射線像を目にしたとき、驚きで言葉を失いました。展示会場で立ったまま、解説を読みふけりました。私たちは、放射能は目に見えないものだと思い込んでいますし、もちろん肉眼で見ることはできません。しかし、あらゆる問題が現在進行形であることを、もの言わぬフキや鯉や軍手の像が静かに、しかし強く伝えてきました。これらの放射線像と解説を一冊の書籍として、記録物として残さなくてはならないと思いました」

本書では、2011年から2014年にかけて、福島県・茨城県・東京都内で採取されたサンプル(動植物、日用品)の放射線像を、採取年ごとにまとめ、解説とともに掲載している。解説と像を一緒に見ることで、サンプル内の汚染の分布や、汚染が広がった過程、汚染を特に強く受けている箇所などが分かる。

展示会で展示した像に、新しく撮像したものを加え、合計60点あまりの放射線像を見ることができる。

「これほどの量の放射線像が、書籍になって一度に公開されるのは、今回が初めてのことです」と晴山さん。
