イギリスやアメリカの国際線に、充電が切れた携帯電話やPCなどの持ち込みが禁止された。

イギリス政府は7月8日、イギリス国内の空港を利用する国際線旅客に対し、充電が切れた携帯電話やスマートフォン・パソコンなどの電子機器を、機内へ持ち込むことを認めないと通知した。電子機器に見せかけた爆発物の機内持ち込みを防ぐためとされる。MSN産経ニュースなどが報じた。

米国が今月上旬に発表した空港警備強化策を受け、米国向けの直行便だけに適用されていたが、対象を拡大した。英政府は、英国の空港を発着する「いくつかの路線で」機器の電池残量を確認する追加検査が行われる可能性があるとしているが、具体的な路線には言及していない。

アメリカ国土安全保障省が7月6日に発表した同様のセキュリティー強化策についてNBCニュースは、対象となる路線はヨーロッパ、アフリカ、中東への直行ルートが有力と分析している。アメリカ国土安全保障省のジェイ・ジョンソン長官はこの取組について、「同盟国や航空業界との間で協議をすすめている」と話していた。
