バンコク爆発の容疑者、似顔絵を公開 外国人か?

タイ警察当局は19日、首都バンコクの繁華街で17日夜に発生した爆発事件で監視カメラに映っていた容疑者は外国人だとの見方を示し、容姿から見て欧州もしくは中東系の可能性があるとした。

警察の報道官は、不鮮明なビデオ映像が示す別の2人について、当局として共犯者だと確信していると述べた。

タイの首都で夕方のラッシュアワーに起きた事件で、少なくとも20人が死亡。うち11人はアジアからの外国人だ。120人以上が負傷している。今のところ犯行声明はない。

タイ経済は観光業に大きく頼っており、政府は同国経済に打撃を与えるために策略された犯罪だと主張している。

報道官はテレビのインタビューで「外国人男性」の逮捕状を取ったと述べた。爆発の20分ほど前に事件現場にバックパックを置き、観光客の間を縫って歩み去る黄色いシャツ姿の不審な男が防犯カメラで確認された。警察が公開した容疑者の似顔絵によると、男性は色白の若い男性で、耳の中間くらいまでかかっている太い髪、薄いひげ、黒眼鏡が特徴だ。

報道官は「男性は白い肌で欧州系か、中東系との混血だろう」とした。肌の色以外に人種を特定した理由は挙げなかった。警察は容疑者逮捕につながる情報に100万バーツ(2万8100ドル)の賞金を出すとツイッターで発表した。

報道官は、ほかに男性2人が関わっている可能性に言及した。一人は赤いシャツ、もう一人は白いシャツを着用しており、柵の前にバックパックを置く似顔絵の容疑者を周囲から隠すように動いていたという。

現場となったエラワン廟(びょう)はこの日、再び立ち入りができるようになった。

警察当局は、現軍事政権への反対勢力を含め、いかなる容疑集団も捜査対象から外していない。ただ、タイ南部で分離独立運動を続けるイスラム過激派や、前政権を支持する「赤シャツ隊」とは行動様態が異なるとの見方を示している。

イスラム教徒のウイグル族も捜査対象となっている。政府は先月、中国・新疆ウイグル自治区から逃れてきたイスラム教徒のウイグル族約109人を中国に強制送還した。

ソムヨット国家警察庁長官は負傷者が出なかった18日の小規模な爆発と、17日の最初の爆発との関連は明らかでないとしている。政府報道官は当初、2つの事件ではともに爆弾にTNT火薬が使われたと「関連性」を指摘していた。

事故はタイにとって不安定な時期に起きた。ここ10年間政権争いが止まず、時にはデモが暴動に発展した。昨年のクーデターでできた軍事政権により選ばれた議会は来月、憲法草案の投票を行うことになっているが、憲法案が非民主的であり、選挙で選ばれた政治家の影響力を抑え、軍事政権の力を強めるものだとの批判が出ている。
