タイ政府の高官らは17日、国内のカンボジア人労働者が軍事政権の不法滞在者取り締まりを恐れて大量に帰国していることに関し、景気に悪影響を及ぼすとの認識を示した。 国際移住機関(IOM)によると、この1週間にタイを出国したカンボジア人は17万人程度。

[バンコク/サケーオ(タイ) 17日 ロイター] - タイ政府の高官らは17日、国内のカンボジア人労働者が軍事政権の不法滞在者取り締まりを恐れて大量に帰国していることに関し、景気に悪影響を及ぼすとの認識を示した。

国際移住機関(IOM)によると、この1週間にタイを出国したカンボジア人は17万人程度。現在は、国境を越える人の流れは減速しつつあるという。多くは軍政が外国人の不法滞在者を取り締まるとのうわさを聞いて帰国した。

タイ軍政は合法的に就労している外国人に対しては何も措置をとらないと約束しているが、 タイ国家平和秩序評議会(NCPO)のプラユット議長(陸軍司令官)は先週、外国人の労働者に適用している法律を「厳格化する」と宣言した。

タイ外務省のシハサク事務次官は記者団に対し、「ビジネスへの何らかの影響があるはずだがどの程度かは分からない」と述べた。

軍政は不法就労者取り締まりについての「事実無根のうわさ」がカンボジア人の出国につながっているとの見解を示している。労働省の高官は、必要書類がそろえば労働者たちは戻ってくる可能性があると述べた。

カンボジアのサル・ケン内相は、プノンペンで、同国政府に相談せずにタイ軍政が労働者を帰国させたと批判した。

タイ労働省によると、同国の合法的な外国人労働者は200万人以上に上り、その半分以上はミャンマーから来ている。ミャンマー人が国境に殺到する動きは見られていない。人権団体はロイターに対し、国外退去に関する不安の緩和に努めていると明らかにした。
