ウィリアム王子（32）の妻で、第2子妊娠中のキャサリン妃（33）が5月2日午前8時34分（現地時間）、第2子となる女児を出産した。母子ともに健康だという。BBCがイギリス王室の発表として伝えた。
第２子は性別にかかわらず、王位継承順位がチャールズ皇太子、ウィリアム王子、兄のジョージ王子に次ぐ４位となる。
第２子の出産予定日は既に過ぎており、英国民に期待が高まっている。

キャサリン妃は5月2日、陣痛が始まったため、ロンドン市内のセント・メアリー病院に入院していた。ウィリアム王子も同行していたという。
