香港で禁書専門店の関係者が相次ぎ失踪 「中国政府が関与か」と懸念強まる

香港で中国政府を批判する本を扱っていた書店の関係者5人が相次いで失踪し、中国当局に拘束されているとの見方が強まっている。1月3日、BBCニュースなどが報じた。

失踪したのは、香港島の繁華街コーズウェイベイにある、「銅鑼湾書店」の関係者5人。1994年に設立された同書店は、習近平国家主席を批判する本や、中国共産党が崩壊すると分析する本など、中国本土では販売が禁じられている禁書を扱っていた

■5人が失踪

最初に異変が起きたのは、2015年10月のことだった

書店と書店の親会社「Mighty Current」のオーナーであるGui Minhai氏が、タイのパタヤにある別荘からのメールを最後に、消息が途絶えた。Minhai氏は中国生まれだが、国籍はスウェーデン。

また、Mighty Currentの統括マネージャーであるLui Bo氏と、営業部長のCheung Jiping氏、そして、書店の店長のLam Wingkei氏も11月5日に失踪が確認された

そして12月30日、書店の主要株主のLee Bo氏が失踪。Bo氏の妻はこの日の夜、「調査に協力する必要がある」との夫からの電話を受けた。電話は香港に近接する中国広東省、深センの番号からかけられていた。

■香港の出版業界から懸念の声

関係者の失踪を受けて、香港警察も捜査に着手。調査を行っているが、香港に対する中国政府の介入に懸念が高まっているBBCによると、香港で出版業を営む多くの人が、中国政府が香港の出版業界への影響力を強め始めていると話したという。中国返還後も出版の自由が認められてきた香港で、(表現の)自由度が低下しつつあるとの見方だ。

また、香港の野党・民主党のAlbert Ho氏が1月3日、5人は中国当局に拉致されたとの見方を示した。Mighty Currentが計画していた、習主席の暴露本が原因ではないかとしている。

Ho氏は銅鑼湾書店の常連客から聞いた話として、Mighty Currentが習主席が数年前に交際していた女性に関する本の出版を計画していたとコメント。「出版しないように、オーナーらが警告を受けていた」と語った。

一方、香港行政府トップの梁振英・行政長官は1月4日の記者会見で、5人の失踪について「非常に心配している」とコメント。中国政府の介入については「その徴候は見られない」と否定した
