アメリカ、ワシントンD.C. に期間限定で現れる名物バーの店内が、春に向けて店内を桜の木の造花で埋め尽くした「The Cherry Blossom Pub」として3月1日、オープンした。
地元紙、ワシントニアンによると、これはワシントンD.C. で毎年春に行われる「全米桜祭り」に合わせた取り組み。
一方、店の残り半分は「スーパーマリオ」をテーマに装飾されている。写真によると、天井からは「はてなブロック」や雲などがつるされ、壁には緑の土管のような飾りも。バーカウンター内にも、マリオのテレビゲーム画面のような絵が描かれている。
ワシントンポストによると、この店では、装飾テーマに合わせて、日本にインスパイアされたメニューが提供される。
目玉メニューは急須と湯呑みのような器で提供される「フラワーパワーカクテル」。
また、マリオ系のメニューとしては、ゴマやサツマイモ風味で、スーパーマリオシリーズの漫画のフレーズからとった名前の「As We Say in Brooklyn, Banzai!」や、「ヨッシー」のキャラクターにインスパイアされた緑色のメロン風味のカクテル、「I Call Yoshi」なども提供される。
オーナーのデレク・ブラウン氏らは、2015年11月にこうした、テーマを明確にした期間限定のバーを初めてオープンさせた。初回のテーマは「休日」で、店内の飾りつけとカクテルを合わせる取り組みで大勢の客が訪れたという。
