アメリカの中央情報局（CIA）は6月6日、TwitterとFacebookアカウントを開設したと発表した。開設から1日ほどで、45万人以上のフォロワーを集めたという。

アメリカの中央情報局（CIA）は6月6日、TwitterとFacebookアカウントを開設したと発表した。8日18時半現在（日本時間）で50万人以上のフォロワーを集めている。時事ドットコムなどが報じた。

米中央情報局（ＣＩＡ）は６日、ツイッターとフェイスブックのアカウントを開設したと発表した。ツイッターでは２日目の７日午後（日本時間８日朝）の段階で既に登録読者である４５万人以上のフォロワーを集めている。今後、ＣＩＡの任務や歴史などについて、「機密解除された情報をもっと米国民に届けたい」（ブレナン長官）と意気込んでいる。

一番最初のツイートがなされたのは日本時間の7日、「これが私たちの最初のつぶやきかどうかは、確認も否定もできない」というスパイ映画じみたものだった。リツートは8日18時半時点（日本時間）で25万件を超えている。

元CIA職員のエドワード・スノーデン氏によって、政府がインターネットを使って個人情報を収集していた実態が明らかとなり、ユーザーからは皮肉めいたコメントが相次いだという。NHKニュースが伝えている。

アメリカの情報機関を巡っては去年、インターネットを使って大量の個人情報を収集していた実態が明らかにされたことが記憶に新しく、利用者からは「ずっと前からツイッターもフェイスブックもやっているはずだ」とか、「自分の電子メールのパスワードを忘れてしまったので、教えてほしい」などといった皮肉たっぷりのコメントが相次いでいます。
