エジプトの裁判所は6月21日、「ムスリム同胞団」の指導者や支持者に対して、4月に死刑判決を言い渡した683人のうち、183人に対して改めて死刑判決を言い渡した。

エジプトの裁判所は6月21日、2013年8月14日に警察署を襲撃した事件に関与したとされるイスラム組織「ムスリム同胞団」の指導者や支持者に対して、4月に死刑判決を言い渡した683人のうち、183人に対して改めて死刑判決を言い渡した。アルジャジーラなどが伝えた。

2013年7月にムスリム同胞団出身のモルシ大統領が解任され、エジプト軍がクーデターにより全権を掌握した。8月には同胞団の支持者による反クーデターデモが相次ぎ、800人以上が死亡した。こうした混乱の中、エジプト中部のミニア県で警察署への襲撃が発生。副署長が殺害された事件に関与した疑いで、同胞団の指導者モハメド・バディア氏をはじめとするメンバーや支持者683人が起訴され、2014年4月には全員に死刑判決が下されていた。

イギリスの新聞「ガーディアン」によると、死刑判決の正当性に関してイスラム法学の最高権威である「大ムフティ」の判断を仰いだ上で、ミニア県の裁判所はバディア氏ら183人に改めて死刑判決を下し、4人に終身刑、残り496人は無罪とした。

今回の判決見直しは、死刑判決に限ってはイスラム教聖職者に助言を求めることを定めた法律に基づく措置だ

また、アルジャジーラによると、ミニア県の裁判所は2014年3月に別の警察署襲撃事件で同胞団の支持者529人に死刑判決を言い渡しているが、引き続き行われた4月の公判で37人に改めて死刑、残りは終身刑が言い渡されている。

BBCによると、今回の判決は近年エジプトで行われた裁判の中でも最も死刑の人数が多く、実質的な審理がほとんどないまま拙速に判決が下されたことに人権団体から批判が上がっており、エジプト経済へのマイナス影響も避けられないだろうとしている。
