アウシュビッツ強制収容所への旅の記録、写真家がとらえた

イタリアの写真家であり映画監督であるルカ・フェラーリ氏が、ミラノ中央駅の21番プラットフォームから、アウシュヴィッツ=ビルケナウ強制収容所までの電車の旅を写真に収めた。

1月27日は、国連が定めた国際ホロコースト記念日だ。この日は、第二次大戦中にナチスによって殺害された何百万人もの犠牲者を、世界中が悼む日となっている。

今年は、ソビエトがアウシュヴィッツ=ビルケナウ強制収容所(アウシュビッツ収容所)に侵攻し、7000人の収容者を解放した日から71年目になる。このアウシュヴィッツ強制収容所では96万人のユダヤ人を含め、約110万人が犠牲になったとされている。

ナチスの強制収容所に連行された多くの人たちの凄惨な旅は、このミラノ中央駅の21番プラットフォームから始まった。ここから犠牲者たちは貨車に詰め込まれ、ドイツのアウシュヴィッツ=ビルケナウやベルゲン・ベルゼン、イタリアのフォッソリやボルツァーノなどの強制収容所、絶滅収容所に移送されたのだ。

イタリアの写真家であり映画監督であるルカ・フェラーリ氏が、ミラノ中央駅の21番プラットフォームから、アウシュビッツ収容所までの電車の旅を写真に収めた。彼の旅が始まる21番プラットフォームは、今はホロコーストの記念館になっている。
