ムスリム同胞団の抗議が広がる一方、イスラム過激派とみられる不穏な動きが活発になっている。産経新聞によると、シナイ半島の中心都市アリーシュでは5日、モルシ派のイスラム武装勢力が県庁舎を襲撃して占拠。同市では6日にも、キリスト教の一派であるコプト教徒の聖職者が射殺された。クーデターとの関連は不明だが、イスラム過激派の犯行の可能性もある。

また、エジプトのイスラム急進組織「アンサル・アル・シャリア」は6日までに、軍のクーデターを「イスラムに対する戦争だ」と非難、武装闘争も辞さないと警告している

事態収拾のため、マンスール暫定大統領は6日、首都カイロの大統領宮殿で軍司令官を兼務するシシ国防相、警察を管轄するイブラヒム内相と会談した。5日の市民同士の大規模衝突などを受けて対応を緊急に協議したとみられる。さらにマンスール暫定大統領は、ノーベル平和賞受賞者で国際原子力機関(IAEA)前事務局長のエルバラダイ氏を暫定首相に任命し、組閣を要請した

日本の外務省は6日、軍事クーデターよってモルシ前大統領が解任されたエジプト全土への渡航延期を勧告する危険情報を出した。

エジプト情勢が混沌を極める中、アメリカは一貫して静観する姿勢を崩していないが、国務省のサキ報道官は5日声明を出し、「エジプト軍が平和的な集会を含む全ての国民の権利を保障するよう期待する」「エジプトの人々は暴力に頼らず、平和的に違いを乗り越えるため団結しなければならない」と、対立する双方に解決を促した。

しかし、クーデターが発生した3日午後(アメリカ東部時間)、ケリー国務長官が地元マサチューセッツ州沖のナンタケット島付近でヨットを楽しんでいたことが発覚。当初、ケリー長官はエジプト政変に対応していたと否定していたが、5日になってナンタケット島にいたことを地元メディアに突き止められると、一転して「短時間、ヨットに乗っていた」と認めたと時事通信は伝えている。
