「太陽の塔」10年ぶりの内部公開へ メディア向け内覧会を生中継

1970年の大阪万博のシンボルとなっている「太陽の塔」(大阪府吹田市)が、10年ぶりに一般公開されることになった。

1970年の大阪万博のシンボルとなっている「太陽の塔」(大阪府吹田市)が、10年ぶりに一般公開されることになった。ハフポスト日本版では10月6日午前10時すぎに、メディア向け事前公開の模様をFacebookライブで中継する。

大阪万博の閉幕以後では初めて、「生命の樹」など塔内全体を照らしあげることで、独特な芸術空間を46年ぶりに体験できるようになる。また、2018年3月の内部公開に向けた照明演出の試験過程のものを公開するという。また、博覧会当時、塔内で流れていた音楽「生命の讃歌」(黛敏郎作曲)を1階または2階の踊り場から流す予定だ。

■太陽の塔とは?

高さ約70メートルの「太陽の塔」は万博のテーマ展示館として、芸術家の岡本太郎がデザインした。塔の内部には、鉄鋼製で造られた高さ約41メートルの「生命の樹」があり、樹の幹や枝には大小さまざまな292体の生物模型が取り付けられ、アメーバなどの原生生物から恐竜、そして人類に至るまでの生命の進化の過程を表現していた。

耐震性が十分でないことなどから、塔の内部は原則非公開となっていた。31日に開始予定の塔の耐震改修工事前に一般の人に見てもらう機会を設けたところ、全国から定員の160倍に当たる約8万人の応募があり、予定していた29日だけでなく30日も内覧会を実施することになった。

行方不明となっている「地底の太陽」などが改修工事で復元。2018年3月から有料で一般公開される予定だ。大阪府の松井一郎知事は「(完成から)50年たつと世界遺産に手を挙げる資格ができる。太陽の塔はその十分な値打ちがある」と登録申請に意欲を示している

1970年に大阪で開催された万国博覧会の顔「太陽の塔」。内部には、原生生物から人までの進化の過程を模型で表現した「生命の樹」が現在も設置されており、当時の面影を残している。施設を管理する日本万国博覧会記念機構(大阪府吹田市)は2003年から予約制で一般の人に内部を公開するツアーを実施してきたが、修復などのため今年3月末で公開を休止する。7日のツアーに名古屋市から参加した男性は「当時万博に来たが、塔は人がいっぱいで入れなかった。今になって見られて良かった」と感慨深げ。同機構では3年後の万博開催40周年記念事業に再公開を検討している。3月までに見学を希望する場合は、同機構のホームページかツアーを企画している名鉄観光梅田支店(06―6311―2168平日のみ)まで。 \n\n撮影日:2007年01月07日 (credit:時事通信社)
