自動車F1シリーズ日本グランプリ（GP）決勝での衝突事故で意識不明の重体となったジュール・ビアンキ選手（フランス、マルシャ・フェラーリ）の容体について、国際自動車連盟（FIA）は10月6日、「深刻だが、安定している」と明らかにした。イギリスBBCの報道として、47NEWSなどが報じた。
25歳のビアンキは5日に手術を受けた。所属するマルシャ・フェラーリは「今後の状況については病院と連絡を取りながら、適切なタイミングで発表していく」との声明を出した。

ビアンキ選手はレース終盤、他の事故車の撤去作業をしていた車両に激突して頭部を負傷。三重県四日市市内の病院で緊急手術を受けた。
