サッカー日本、スウェーデンを下す 決勝トーナメント進出はならず【リオオリンピック】

リオデジャネイロ・オリンピックのサッカー日本代表は8月10日(現地時間)から、予選リーグ第3戦のスウェーデン戦に臨み、1-0で今大会初勝利を挙げた。予選リーグ3試合で通算1勝1敗1分け、勝ち点は4。しかし、同じグループBの2位のコロンビアが勝利して勝ち点を5としたため、日本はグループ3位となり、決勝トーナメント進出はならなかった。

日本は序盤から積極的に攻め込み、前半32分には興梠のミドルシュートなどでチャンスをつくったが、ゴールを決められず前半を0-0で終えた。

先制ゴールを挙げた矢島

後半20分、左コーナー付近で相手DFの混戦をかいくぐってMF大島がセンタリング。ゴール前中央付近に走り込んだ途中出場のMF矢島が合わせて先制ゴールを決めた。終盤、焦ったスウェーデンが高さを生かしたゴール前の空中戦をかわし、逃げ切った。

ナイジェリア-コロンビアは前半4分にコロンビアが先制、後半18分にも追加点を挙げ、2-0で勝利した。

手倉森誠監督は、コロンビア勝利の知らせを受け「そういう運命はね、受け止めなきゃいけない」と述べ「『谷間の世代』といわれた選手たちが、勝ちをもぎ取れるようになってきた。そういったところは示せた大会になった」と総括した。試合後、以下のようにインタビューに答えた。(産経ニュース

目標を掲げて、それに到達できなかったことに対しては本当に申し訳ない。ただ本当に、出ることも危ぶまれたチームが世界を経験した。それは日本サッカー界のこれからの財産になったと思う。戦いぶりも相当改善された部分がありますから、日本サッカー協会としてはロシア(ワールドカップに)にこのメンバーが加わっていけたらと思います

主将のMF遠藤航は、スポニチによると、「あきらめない姿勢を出すっていうところ。その辺は意識してやりましたけど結果が伴わなかった」と肩を落とし、以下のように誓った。

この経験を絶対に糧にしていかないといけない。このオリンピックチームはもうここで終わってしまいますけど、個人個人としてのプロサッカー人生はまだまだこれから。絶対にこの悔しさを無駄にしないで、さらに努力を続けて一人一人が成長していけるように頑張りたい
