男子ゴルフの海外メジャー大会第1戦、マスターズ・トーナメントは4月12日、アメリカ・ジョージア州オーガスタで最終ラウンドが行われ、松山英樹選手はスコアを6つ伸ばして通算11アンダーとして、自己最高の5位と健闘した。日刊スポーツなどが報じた。
最終ラウンドが行われ、首位と１１打差の１０位からスタートした松山英樹（２３＝ＬＥＸＵＳ）は１イーグル、４バーディーを奪って６６をマークし、通算１１アンダーの２７７で５位だった。
８番でバーディーを奪い勢いに乗った。１０番、１１番は連続バーディー。１３番では見事に３日連続となるイーグルを奪った。１８番もバーディーで締めた。

2001年の伊沢利光選手と2009年の片山晋呉選手が記録した日本選手最高の4位には届かなかった。
松山選手は「きょうはパットが入ったので、よかった。ここまでの3日間でこういうプレーをしないと優勝にはなかなか届かないので、そうできるよう練習したい」と話した。
優勝したのは21歳のジョーダン・スピース選手（アメリカ）。通算18アンダーで、初日からトップを守った。18アンダーは1997年大会にタイガー・ウッズ（アメリカ）が作った大会最少スコアに並び、優勝賞金180万ドル（約2億1600万円）を獲得した。
