ケリー国務長官、原爆慰霊碑に献花 「謝罪はしない」と米高官【G7外相会合】

G7外相会合で広島を訪れているアメリカのジョン・ケリー国務長官は11日、広島への原爆投下の跡地に作られた平和記念公園を訪れた。

アメリカのジョン・ケリー国務長官は4月11日、広島市の平和記念公園の原爆死没者慰霊碑に献花した。広島が世界初の原爆攻撃を受けた都市になって以来、アメリカ政府関係者の訪問としては最高位となった。

ケリー氏は、主要7カ国(G7)外相会合のために広島を訪れていた。11日午前には岸田文雄外相と会談し、「広島は私にとっても特別な意味を持つ場所だ。平和記念公園はいかに平和が重要かを示すものだ。大量破壊兵器などの絶滅のために両国がリーダーシップをとる必要がある」と語った

しかし、被爆地で原爆の犠牲者を追悼したケリー氏は、アメリカの原爆投下について謝罪を明言することはなかった。CNNは次のように伝えていた。

ケリー長官に同行している国務省高官によると、ケリー長官が今回の広島訪問で米国による核兵器の使用や原爆がもたらした惨状について謝罪する予定はない。

国務省高官は、「米国務長官が謝罪のため広島に来たのかと尋ねられれば、答えはノーだ」「国務長官、そしてすべての米国人と日本人が、これほど多くの我々の国民に降りかかった悲劇に深い悲しみを覚えるかといえば、答えはイエスだ」と語った。

アメリカ政府は5月の主要国首脳会議(伊勢志摩サミット)に出席するオバマ氏の広島訪問を検討しているが、アメリカ国内には批判も根強い。今回のケリー氏の訪問が「謝罪外交」とみなされれば、野党共和党などが反発するのは必至とみられ、アメリカ側は細心の注意を払っているもようだと伝えられている

G7外相会合は11日、広島、長崎が原爆投下で「極めて甚大な壊滅と非人間的な苦難を経験した」と認め、核廃絶への決意を示した「広島宣言」を採択して閉幕した
