イタリアのサッカーリーグ・セリエAの名門チーム、ACミランに移籍した本田圭佑が1月15日（現地時間）、本拠地であったイタリアカップ5回戦のスペツィア戦に初先発し、2－0でリードしていた後半2分に、味方のシュートを相手ゴールキーパーがはじいたこぼれ球を左足で蹴り込み、イタリア公式戦初ゴールを決めた。
イタリアカップは正規リーグ戦とは異なるトーナメント方式のカップ戦。ACミランは3－1で勝利し、準々決勝に進んだ。
朝日新聞デジタルによると、本田は試合終了後、やはりコメントしなかったという。
後半１９分に退いたが、試合後は満足げな表情。ただ、ロシア１部ＣＳＫＡモスクワ時代と同じように、ほとんど取材に応じなかった。「お疲れっす」とだけ話して、スタジアムを離れた。
