中国のIKEA（中国名は「宜家家居」）では、店員が客に家具の使い勝手を試してみるよう勧めており、そのままひと眠りする客も多い。中国のIKEAは巨大につくられており、1日をずっとここで過ごす客たちも結構いるのだ。

世界36カ国で278店舗を構えるIKEAは、中国でも、中流階級たちの人気を集めている。世界のIKEA店舗で、売り場面積が大きい上位10軒のうち8軒が中国にある（1位はスウェーデンのストックホルム店だが、2位は中国の上海店で5万5032平方メートル）。
