［バグダッド／アルビル（イラク） ８日 ロイター］ - 米国は８日、イラクのイスラム過激派「イスラム国」に対する空爆に踏み切った。米軍によるイラク空爆は２０１１年末の駐留米軍撤退以降で初めて。
国防総省の報道官によると、２機の米軍戦闘攻撃機ＦＡ１８が、クルド人自治区の中心都市アルビル近郊で、イスラム国が使用する移動式火砲を標的にレーザー誘導弾を投下した。
さらに、山岳地帯でイスラム国に包囲されているクルド系少数宗派ヤジディ教徒数万人に救援物資を投下した。
オバマ大統領は前日のテレビ演説で「大量虐殺（ジェノサイド）」の回避が不可欠とした上で、過激派の侵攻を食い止め、米国市民やキリスト教徒、さらに宗教的少数派の人々の生命を保護するために行動が必要と強調。「我々は虐殺行為を防ぐため、慎重にかつ責任を持って行動できる。このため、必要な場合、限定的な空爆を認めることを決めた」としていた。
こうしたなか、イスラム国の兵士はロイターの電話取材に応じ、米軍の空爆による影響は皆無だとした上で「米国側は戦略的な地点を考えて空爆したようだが、われわれの戦い方は異なる」とし、ゲリラ戦で抵抗する考えを示唆した。
フランスのオランド大統領は８日、イラク市民を苦しみから解放するため、行動に参加する用意があると言及、米国などと協議すると明らかにした。
イラク空爆、終了日程決めていない＝米大統領報道官
［ワシントン ８日 ロイター］ - オバマ米大統領は、イラク北部の過激派「イスラム国」に対する空爆を終了する具体的な日程は決めていない。アーネスト報道官が８日、明らかにした。
同報道官は記者団に対し、「オバマ大統領は（空爆の）終了に関する特定の日程は示していない」とし、状況は現地の治安情勢次第となると述べた。
米軍はこの日、イラク北部に展開しているイスラム過激派組織「イスラム国」に対する限定的な空爆を開始。米軍によるイラクでの軍事行動は２０１１年末の駐留軍撤退後、初めてとなる。
米軍、イラク北部を再び空爆＝国防総省
［ワシントン ８日 ロイター］ - 米国防総省は８日、イラク北部の都市アルビル近郊でイスラム過激派「イスラム国」に対し、朝方の攻撃に続き２回の空爆を実施したと発表した。
米軍はこの日、アルビル近郊に５００ポンド爆弾２発を投下。２０１１年の駐留軍撤退以降初めての軍事行動に踏み切った。
