シリアのクルド人難民、3万人がイラク北部クルド自治区に流入

国連難民高等弁務官事務所(UNHCR)は19日、内戦が続くシリア北部から、イラク北部のクルド人自治区への難民が急増し、今月15日以降で約3万人に達したと明らかにした。大半がシリア系クルド人という。

AFP通信によると、これまでイラクに流入するシリア難民の数は他の近隣諸国に比べて少なかったが、急激な難民の増加で、現地の国連難民高等弁務官事務所は対応に追われている。イラク北部のクルド人自治区に逃げてきた難民のほとんどは、女性や子ども、高齢者だ。

産経新聞によると、シリア北部では最近、共にアサド大統領に敵対するシリア系クルド人と、イスラム過激派「ヌスラ戦線」の衝突が激化。シリアに自治区樹立を目指すクルド人と、イスラム国家樹立を目指すヌスラ戦線との間で対立が深まっている。

シリア系クルド人をめぐっては隣国トルコが勢力拡大を警戒。イラクのクルド自治政府のバルザニ議長が8月上旬、「シリアのクルド人を守る」と述べ、軍事介入の可能性を示唆するなど緊張が高まっている。

クルド人はイラク北部のほかトルコ、イラン、シリア、アルメニアに分散して暮らし、約3千万人とされる。国家を持たない世界最大の民族集団といわれる。独自の言語と文化を持つが、各国で少数派として抑圧されてきた。イラクには約400万人が住む。91年の湾岸戦争後、米英が安全を確保し、イラク北部に自治が実現した。03年のイラク戦争では米軍に協力。06年5月には、北部3州を統治する地域政府が発足した。
