［バグダッド ２５日 ロイター］ - イラクでは２５日、反政府武装勢力が主要な空軍基地を攻撃し、複数の小規模な油田を制圧した。マリキ首相は、１週間内に議会で新政権樹立に向けたプロセスを開始する計画に支持を示した。
同国の北部ではイスラム教スンニ派の過激派組織「イラク・レバントのイスラム国（ＩＳＩＬ）」が主導する武装勢力の進撃が続いている。ＩＳＩＬ以外のスンニ派組織も含まれている。
米国防総省のカービー報道官は２４日に、特殊部隊など４０人を査察チームの要員としてイラクに配置したと明らかにした。査察チームの追加編成に、５０人の軍関係者が数日内に到着する見通し。
武装勢力が２５日に制圧したのは北部ティクリートの東３０キロに位置するアジール油田地帯で、油田で働く技師によると、少なくとも３つの小さな油田が含まれており、合計で日量２万８０００バレルを生産している。
アジールはパイプライン２本とつながっており、１本はトルコへ、もう１本はバイジ地区の石油精製施設に石油を輸送している。
国営テレビでは、バイジへの攻撃を阻止するため、軍の援兵がヘリコプターで現地に乗り入れる姿が映し出された。
ＩＳＩＬを含む武装勢力はまた、「キャンプ・アナコンダ」としてかつて知られていた空軍基地を包囲し、迫撃砲で攻撃した。
