キャメロン英首相は２０日、米国人記者がイスラム教スンニ派の過激派組織「イスラム国」に殺害されたとみられる事件で、実行犯が英国人であるとの疑いが出ていることに衝撃を受けていると語った。
イスラム国は１９日、約２年前にシリアで行方不明になっていた米国人記者のジェームズ・フォーリー氏の首を切断する映像を公表した。実行犯の男はイギリス訛りの英語を話していた。
キャメロン首相は「映像に写っている事件に関与した男の身元は判明していないが、英国人である可能性が高まっており、非常に衝撃を受けている」と述べた。
英情報当局は、映像に写っていた男の捜査を開始。ハモンド英外相は、英情報当局が米国と緊密に協力し、男の身元特定に尽力しているほか、テロ対策の特別警察部隊が映像を調べていることを明らかにした。［ロンドン ２０日 ロイター］
