トルコ西部の都市イズミルの裁判所前で1月5日、自動車爆弾とみられる爆発があり、警察と容疑者で銃撃戦が発生した。BBCによるとこの事件で裁判所職員と警察官の2人が死亡し、容疑者2人が射殺された。警察は3人目の容疑者の行方を追っている。

ロイター通信によると、少なくとも10人が爆発で負傷したという。

スカイニュースによると、イズミルのエロル・アイルディズ県知事は会見で、自動車は市の裁判所の外に止められていたと述べた。

アイルディズ知事は、「当方の警官がバイラクリ裁判所前の警察検問所で車両を止めようとしたら、銃撃戦が勃発した」と語った。「この銃撃戦で、テロリストは逃げようとする途中で自動車爆弾を爆発させた」

アイルディズ県知事は、これまでのところ、少数民族クルディスタン労働者党(PKK)による犯行の可能性があると語った。

スカイニュースによると、現場からロケットランチャー、自動ライフル、手りゅう弾8個が押収されたという。

トルコのヴェイシ・カイナク副首相は、「爆発後に発見された武器から判断すると、さらに大規模な攻撃が計画されていたとみられる」と述べた

トルコでは、最大の都市イスタンブールで1月1日、ナイトクラブ「レイナ」で39人が死亡した銃乱射事件が起きている。

1日の銃乱射事件の容疑者は依然として逃走中で、イスラム過激派組織ISが犯行声明を出している。
