男子プロテニスのメンフィス・オープン決勝が2月15日に開かれ、世界ランク5位の錦織圭が、南アフリカのケビン・アンダーソン（同15位）を破って、大会史上初の3連覇を果たした。
錦織には優勝トロフィーとして、ギブソン社製のエレキギター「メンフィス ES-355」の特注バージョンが手渡された。開催地のテネシー州メンフィスはエルビス・プレスリーが亡くなるまで暮らしたため、「ロックンロールの聖地」として観光名所になっている。
例年のトロフィーはギターの形を模した物だったが、今回は3連覇の快挙を祝って本物のギターが贈られた。賞金は10万6565ドル（約1260万円）。錦織は「大好きです。ギターを演奏したことは一度もなかったけど、これからレッスンを受けようと思います」と話していた。
