北朝鮮の金正男氏殺害事件で、マレーシア警察は3月3日、身柄を拘束していた北朝鮮国籍のリ・ジョンチョル容疑者(47)を証拠不十分で不起訴処分とし、釈放した。

リ容疑者は国外退去処分となり、中国・北京に向けて出国した。

現地紙「スター・オンライン」によると、リ容疑者は国外退去処分となり、4日午前9時ごろ、複数台の警察車両に警護されて警察を出たあと、入国管理事務所に向かった。、午後3時40分ごろにクアラルンプール国際空港に到着した。

出国ロビーで報道陣に囲まれたリ容疑者は、記者たちの質問に「ノーコメント」を繰り返した。リ容疑者の家族を乗せたとみられる北朝鮮大使館の車も、ターミナルビルに現れた。

そのまま北京行きの飛行機に搭乗して出国したリ容疑者は、4日未明に経由地の北京・首都国際空港に到着した。スター・オンラインの別の記事によると、北朝鮮大使館の前に姿を現したリ容疑者は報道陣に対し、事件当日は空港におらず、事件に自分の車が使われたことも知らないと主張。「拘留中に家族の写真を見せられた」「捏造された証拠で捜査された」として、「これは共和国の地位と名誉に打撃を与えるための謀略であり、陰謀だと気づいた」とマレーシアの捜査を非難した。

マレーシア警察はまた、事件に関与していたとして、高麗航空職員のキム・ウギル容疑者の逮捕状を請求。北朝鮮大使館にヒョン・クァンソン2等書記官の捜査協力を要請した。
