「天空の城ラピュタ」には幻のタイトルがあった

映画天空の城ラピュタGUIDE BOOK 復刻版

映画『天空の城ラピュタ』が、1月15日の金曜ロードSHOW(日テレ系)で放送されるが、作品の発案時には別のタイトルが考えられていた。この放送にあわせて開設された特設サイトによると、当時の仮タイトルは『少年パズー・飛行石の謎』だったという。

サブタイトルも検討されており、「空中城の虜」「空とぶ宝島」「飛行帝国」などが挙がっていたという。

ORICON STYLEによると、監督の宮崎駿氏は、ラピュタのアイデアを小学校のときに考えたという。着想のひとつは、福島鉄次が書いた『沙漠の魔王』。この作品に登場する飛行石を映画の中に取り入れたのだという。

なお、作品の舞台についてスタジオジブリの公式サイトは、イギリス・ウェールズ地方を「大いに参考にした」と書いている
