北アフリカのリビアでは、武装勢力同士の衝突によりこの2週間で150人が死亡する事態になっている。各国の政府は自国民に対してリビアから退去するよう呼びかけている。

争乱状態が続く東部ベンガジなどで、7月26日から27日にかけて国軍とイスラム系民兵の激しい戦闘があり、現地報道によると60人以上が死亡した。時事ドットコムなどが報じた。

東部ベンガジでイスラム系武装勢力が2日間にわたってリビア軍特殊部隊の拠点を襲撃。一般市民を含む少なくとも38人が命を落とした。

首都トリポリでは、エジプト人労働者の宿泊先の建物が武装勢力によるとみられるロケット弾攻撃に巻き込まれ、エジプト人23人が犠牲になった。

首都トリポリでは、国際空港を支配下に置こうと、イスラム系の武装勢力が別の武装勢力に攻撃を仕掛けている。これを受け、アメリカは26日、トリポリにあるアメリカ大使館の職員全員を隣国のチュニジアに退避させた

フランス政府は27日、自国民にリビアから退去するよう勧告した。また、日本政府はすでに現地の日本大使館を一時的に閉鎖し、リビアへの渡航を延期するよう呼びかけている

リビアでは、3年前にカダフィ政権が崩壊した。6月には議会選挙が行われたが、内戦によって政府軍が弱体化し、国内各地でさまざまな武装勢力が衝突を繰り返すなど治安の悪化に歯止めがかかっていない。

ベンガジでは2012年9月、過激派によるとみられるアメリカ領事館襲撃事件が起き、駐リビア米大使らアメリカ人4人が死亡した。
