マララさん、ガザ学校再建に賞金５万ドルを寄付
女子教育の権利を訴えてノーベル平和賞に選ばれたマララ・ユスフザイさん（１７）が２９日、「世界子供賞」を受賞した。マララさんはパレスチナ自治区ガザの学校再建を支援するため、賞金５万ドル（約５４０万円）を寄付すると表明した。
「世界子供賞」は、子供の権利の擁護に貢献した人物や団体を世界中の子供たちが投票で選ぶ。スウェーデンでの授賞式で、マララさんは「罪のないパレスチナの子供たちは、あまりにも長い間、ひどく苦しんできた」と話した。賞金全額を、国連パレスチナ難民救済事業機関（ＵＮＲＷＡ）に寄付するという。
７月初旬から５０日間続いたイスラエル軍の攻撃で、ガザでは多くの学校が損壊していた。
ＵＮＲＷＡのピエール・クレヘンビュール事務局長は同日、「戦闘の間、生徒たちや教職員は打ちひしがれていたが、ここ数カ月の苦しみが、あなたの思いやりにより和らぐだろう」と謝意を示した。（エルサレム＝山尾有紀恵）
