［バグダッド １１日 ロイター］ - イラク最高裁は１１日、イスラム教シーア派であるマリキ首相の陣営が議会の最大会派だとする判断を示した。同首相の３期目続投につながる可能性がある。国営テレビが伝えた。
憲法に基づき、大統領はマリキ首相に組閣を要請しなければならなくなる。
イラクでは４月の議会選挙でマリキ首相率いる会派が最多議席を獲得したが、挙国一致の体制でイスラム教スンニ派の過激組織「イスラム国」に対抗するため、スンニ派、クルド人勢力、シーア派の一部、隣国イランはマリキ首相に退くよう求めていた。
マリキ首相率いる「法治国家連合」のメンバーであるマフムード・アル＝ハッサン氏はロイターに対し、大統領は同首相に組閣を要請しなければならず、さもなければ憲法違反行為を犯すことになると指摘した。
一方、イラク政府高官は匿名を条件に、最高裁の判断は「非常に問題がある」と指摘。「情勢を非常に、非常に複雑化させるだろう」と述べた。
批判論者はマリキ首相について、故サダム・フセイン元大統領に匹敵するほど宗派的で独裁的な人物だと指摘している。
