中絶に反対するもう一つの「ウイメンズ・マーチ」開催 「反トランプ」女性が葛藤を語る

「私は中絶反対のフェミニスト」

人工妊娠中絶に反対する女性たちが首都ワシントンに集結し、1月27日にもうひとつのデモ行進に参加する。フェミニストを自認する女性たちの中には、今回のデモをトランプ大統領時代に自分たちのアイデンティティを主張する好機ととらえる向きもある。

中絶を認めた1973年1月22日の「ロー対ウェイド事件」判決前後に毎年行われる妊娠中絶反対デモ「マーチ・フォー・ライフ(命のための行進)」は、27日朝ワシントン記念塔を起点にして国会議事堂へ向かう。今回の行進に参加する女性の中には21日にワシントンで行われた「ウイメンズ・マーチ」や、全米各地や世界各国で行われた「シスターマーチ」に参加した人もいる。「ウイメンズ・マーチ」の主催者は、活動方針の中に「安全で合法で手頃な妊娠中絶を受ける自由」を掲げ、人工妊娠中絶に反対のグループをパートナー団体から外した

両方のデモ行進に参加する女性たちはハフィントンポストUS版の取材に、先週のデモはおおむね成功したので、「マーチ・フォー・ライフ」開催までその連帯感を共有したいと語った。しかしトランプ大統領がこれまで女性に侮蔑的な発言を繰り返した経緯があるから、女性を尊重するという観点で抗議をする時、トランプ氏に関する議論は避けられない。

ペンシルバニア州スポットシルバニアに住むリサ・トゥイッグさんは、妊娠中絶反対団体「ライフ・マターズ・ジャーナル」でSNSサイトの管理人をしているが、ワシントンで開催された「ウイメンズ・マーチ」に参加した。「私もプロ・ライフ(中絶反対)のフェミニスト」と書かれたスウェットシャツを着ていた。トゥイッグさんは「命の行進」に参加して、トランプ大統領が多くの女性が上げる抗議の声を考慮に入れることを期待している。

「今度のデモ行進で、トランプ大統領が女性に対する態度を改め、中絶反対派と力を合わせて生殖医療を必要とする女性に、胎児の犠牲を伴わない選択肢を与えるよう努力するきっかけができればと願っています」と、トゥイッグさんは語った。

「私と同じく、中絶反対派の多くが危機的状況に置かれた女性に配慮するよう大統領に要求することになればと願っています」

テキサス州ダラスに住むデスティニー・ハードン・デ・ラ・ローザさんは「ニュー・ウェイブ・フェミニスト」を設立し代表を務めている。この団体は「ウイメンズ・マーチ」の主催者側からパートナー団体としての参加を拒否された。それでもデスティニーさんはデモ行進に参加し、27日の「マーチ・フォー・ライフ」にも参加する。

「トランプ大統領が過去に女性蔑視の発言を繰り返したのは不愉快極まりないのです」とハフィントンポストUS版の取材で語った。デスティニーさんは「拷問、戦争、死刑はプロ・ライフ(生命の尊重)に反する」と書いたプラカードを掲げて行進した。人工妊娠中絶に関しては意見が異なるが、「圧倒的に好意的な」反応が周囲から寄せられたという。

これまで妊娠中絶反対の集会でトランプ氏を批判する姿勢を取ると、その場に緊張感が走っていたという。とはいっても、この問題に関するトランプ氏の姿勢は大統領選が近づくにつれて二転三転していった。

「出て行けと言われたわけではないのですが、私の『トランプ絶対反対」という立場に対しては、明らかに反発がありました」と語った。デスティニーさんは27日のデモ行進にトランプ大統領が顔を出し、みんなが一致点を見つけられればと思っている。

「すでにワシントンには赤い(『アメリカを再び偉大な国に』と書かれた)帽子をかぶった人々がたくさん集まっています。だからトランプ大統領もきっと姿を見せるはずです」と語った。「でも私はどんな運動をするにせよ、政治的問題で口論するのではなく、忌憚のない議論をするチャンスにすることで、国民全体にとってより良い文化を育む機会になればと思うのです」

西海岸で「世俗派中絶反対グループ」のオーガナイザーを務め、「サンフランシスコ中絶反対未来運動」の代表テリサ・ブコヴィナックさんは、27日のデモ行進で意見の一致が見られることを期待する。テリサさんは先週末サンフランシスコでの「ウイメンズマーチ」に参加した。「私もプロ・ライフのフェミニスト」のシャツを身に付け、「無神論者、フェミニストだけど中絶反対。人間はみな同じ」と書かれたプラカードを掲げた。テリサさんは参加者の大半から歓迎されていると感じたと語った。

テリサさんは同日早い時間におこなわれたサンフランシスコの中絶反対デモに参加したが、トランプ大統領が誕生してもデモの勢いに変化はないと感じたという。

「中絶反対運動全体で一致しているのは、トランプ大統領にはとても懐疑的だが、期待はしているというところです」と語った。

「中絶反対派のなかには若干不安になっている人もいますが、反対運動参加者全体の目的は堕胎を止めさせることの1点に尽きます。トランプ大統領はこの点で若干一貫性を欠いていますが、それが議論の中心になってはいません」

テリサさんは2017年になって初めてワシントンでの「マーチ・フォー・ライフ」に参加する。トランプ大統領にもう少し注目が集まることを期待している。また、マイク・ペンス副大統領とケリーアン・コンウェイ大統領補佐官が集会で演説するようにスケジュールが組まれている。

「保守派もリベラル派も参加するでしょうが、一番大事なのは人工妊娠中絶を止めさせることです」と語った。「ですから、中絶反対運動に参加するほとんど全員が、この点については団結しようとしています。アメリカで人工妊娠中絶を終わらせるためには、保守派だけが頑張っても無理です。リベラル派だけでも無理です。国民みんながこの問題に関心をもつ必要があるのです」
