本田は、前半のショートプログラムで2位につけ、フリーで映画「ビートルジュース」の曲に合わせ、ジャンプ、スピンと流れるようにすべての要素をまとめた。連続の3回転ジャンプをはじめ、すべてのジャンプを成功させた。
本田は、「すごく楽しんで滑れた。本当に緊張しなかった。今までで一番のフリーができた。表彰台を目標にしていたので良かった」とコメントした。
■本田真凛、京都出身の14歳
本田は京都府出身で、大阪府の中学校に通う14歳。表現力に優れていて、宮原知子選手と同じ拠点で練習している。妹は子役の俳優として活躍する本田望結さん。今シーズンは、2015年12月に行われたジュニアのグランプリファイナルに初出場し、3位に入っていた。
